Subject: Reno Shakes Up Justice Probe

Attorney General Janet Reno plans to bring in a new prosecutor to oversee the campaign finance probe, as well as a new FBI supervisor, CNN has learned.

Sources say Reno was concerned about the pace of the investigation and friction between the Justice Department and the FBI as they proceed with the investigation.

A senior Justice official said it was not a slap in face at the task force's current supervisor, but rather a chance to bring in outsiders to oversee the case and move it forward more quickly.

While sources say no decision has been made about seeking an independent counsel, the personnel moves are a clear sign that the Justice Department is taking the probe very seriously, and that an independent counsel remains a distinct possibility.
